Philip J. Hacker established the firm in 1970 specializing in participation and contract compliance audits for motion picture, television, and merchandising participants.  On  January 1, 1996, the firm was renamed Hacker, Douglas & Company when Elaine Douglas became a named partner.  On January 1, 2000 the firm was renamed Hacker, Douglas & Company, LLP.
